CAMRC, the Charleston Area Model Railroad Club, was organized in 1983 to give those interested in model railroading an opportunity to have fun, learn, and share with others.  In 2008 we had an opportunity to move into our current wonderful home, the Citadel Mall.

The club has members who are actively involved in various scales, including G, HO, O and N. Members may have special skills and interest in particular aspects of the hobby, such as scenery construction, traction, modeling of engines and rolling stock, building structures, and electronics.

Others are new to the hobby and can benefit from the experience and association with the more experienced members.  We use Lionel TCS, Digitrax, and JMRI control systems.  Recent projects include DCC, Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

Organized for over 35 years

Starting in 1983, the club was originally known as the Best Friend of Charleston.  The group moved to a larger facility in 2008, located in the Citadel Mall, outside Dillard's Dept Store.
